Behr is one of the largest paint companies in the United States. Like Pantone and Sherwin Williams, Behr chooses a color to represent the year. For 2022, Behr chose Breezeway, which is described as a sea glass green. The color represents a quiet calmness and peacefulness which can be used all around your home. It is seen as a way to bring the outside in, like fresh air.
What is nice about this color is the versatility of its uses. If you use it to paint your space, it can be used on the outside of your home, or as an accent color on trim, cabinets, or doors. Also, you can find décor pieces in that color, check for appliances, or other pieces around your home. As a bonus, there are many colors that coordinate with Breezeway, such as whites, woods (browns), taupe, among others. This makes it easy to use Breezeway throughout your home.
Behr also created a color trend palette that compliments the 2022 color of the year. Colors that are part of the palette include Nightingale Gray (a warm gray), Lingonberry Punch (a red berry hue), and Cracked Pepper (grayish black), along with 17 other colors. What’s great about these colors is that they work with each other, and they are also great on their own.
“We’ve spent more time in our home than ever before, so when we were tasked with deciding on the 2022 Color of the Year, we wanted something that excited us and brought on a sense of renewal and restoration for the adventures ahead,” Erika Woelfel, the vice president of color and creative services at Behr Paint Company told House Beautiful. “Breezeway represents the intention to move forward, bringing you from one place to another.”
As the year unfolds and the unknown becomes known, we go from spending time in our home to going back out into the world. It is nice to have a color that can create a sense of tranquility. What’s great about this color is that is can work over a large area, or still have an impact as an accent color mixed with the other colors in the color trend palette. This can be something that is tried in a variety of options to determine what is the best color combination for your space.
